Explore our frequently asked questions (FAQs) to find answers and insights about our solutions and programs.
Yes, most contact lens cases can be recycled. They are typically made from recyclable materials like polypropylene (plastic) and aluminium foil.
Contact lens cases are relatively small and cannot be easily sorted by recycling machinery. Items that are too small or irregularly shaped can be challenging to process in automated recycling facilities, and thus often end up in landfill.
To prepare contact lens cases for recycling, first, remove the contact lenses and any remaining solution. Place the empty contact lens cases into the Opticycle recycling bin or home collection satchel.
Yes, unwanted eyeglasses can often be recycled. We work with optometrists and eyewear retailers to collect old or unwanted glasses for recycling through our specialised process.
When eyeglasses are recycled, they are dismantled, and the materials (such as metal and plastic) separated. These materials are passed on to local Australian companies as raw material for new products.
